Kilowatka
Privacy
What data Kilowatka processes, where it stays and who sees it.
Draft of 26 September 2026. The effective date will be set on publication.
In short
- Kilowatka has no account and no sign-in.
- We use no advertising and no cross-app tracking. The website only counts anonymous visit statistics.
- Your car, cards and settings stay on your phone. We do not collect them.
- Apple provides maps, search and routes. Those requests go to Apple, not to us.
- Data reaches us only when you write to us or send us diagnostics yourself.
- Data from support emails may be linked to your email address.

What stays only on your phone
- the car you chose and its specifications,
- the tariff cards you mark (only the choice of card, not a card number or a password for an operator account),
- your home charging price and your estimate of how you charge,
- prices you correct by hand for yourself only,
- filters and the map view,
- recent searches (place name and coordinates),
- the state of your Premium subscription.
The app does not send this stored data to us or to anyone else. You clear recent searches in search and change the rest in the relevant editors. Deleting the app removes all of it from the phone. Phone backups follow your Apple settings.
Location
The app uses your location only if you allow it in iOS, and only while you use the app. It shows nearby stations and the distance to them. If you leave the start of Along the route at My location, the app sends it to Apple as the start of the route. We do not keep a location history, we do not track you in the background and the app does not send your location to us. You change the permission in iPhone Settings.
Maps, search and routes from Apple
Apple (MapKit) provides the map, place search, route calculation and Look Around. When you use them, Apple receives what it needs for that:
- your search text, already while you type (search is limited to Czechia),
- the start of a route (your location, a place you choose, or the map centre) and its destination in Along the route,
- the station’s coordinates when you open its detail (for Look Around),
- the area around a station for the Nearby section with places close by: only the station’s coordinates, never your location. Tapping a place opens it in Apple Maps.
These requests go from your phone straight to Apple, not to us. Apple processes them under its Maps privacy information.
Purchases
Apple sells the Premium subscription and handles payment in the App Store. The app receives purchase information from the App Store to unlock Premium and stores the state on your phone. We do not see your payment details.
Charging watch on the Lock Screen
When you turn on Watch charging, iOS shows the station, the operator, the price, a warning about an idle fee and charging times on the Lock Screen (a Live Activity). It runs only on your phone, without our server. Anyone who sees your Lock Screen can see it.
Diagnostics
The app keeps a short technical log on your phone: time, type of operation, outcome, a general error category, possibly a temporary operation identifier, the app version and the data version. It does not store location, search text, receipts, full web addresses or a device identifier. It keeps at most 100 entries from the last 7 days.
Separately it stores iOS crash and performance reports (MetricKit), at most the 10 most recent files. These can be more detailed.
The app sends none of this by itself. In Profile → Diagnostics → Review and share diagnostics you can look at it, pick files and send it through the system share sheet to whoever you choose. There you can also delete it with Delete local diagnostics. Temporary share files older than 24 hours are removed the next time you prepare sharing. Deleting does not recall what you have already sent.
Sharing analytics with iOS itself is a separate setting in iPhone Settings.
When you write to us
The app prepares a report about a price or a station as an email: it contains the station, the tariff, the price shown, its source and date, the reason and anything you add. A report about a missing station also contains the text you searched for. Your mail app opens, you can edit the message and you send it yourself.
When you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if the email includes it, the message text and attachments, such as diagnostics or a photo of a price list. We use them to reply, to handle your request and to correct price and station data.
Replying to you, handling your report and keeping correct prices and stations in the app are our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We also handle a complaint or a request to exercise your rights to perform the contract and meet legal obligations (points b and c).
You do not have to write to us. Without an email, we simply cannot reply.
How long we keep emails: we delete them at the latest 12 months after the last message; complaints and data needed for legal claims are kept as long as the law requires.
Who else processes them: our email provider, WEDOS, a.s. (VEDOS Mailhosting) as our processor. According to the provider, mailbox data is stored on its own servers in the Czech Republic.
Do not attach passwords, card numbers or details unrelated to the problem.
Station and price data
Station and price data is part of the app. The app does not currently download it from the internet. If updates start being downloaded, they will be public data files without your personal data. The server will technically see your phone’s IP address. Before that happens, we will add here who runs the server and how long it keeps logs.
This website
The website uses local scripts for display and interaction. They do not use cookies or browser storage and do not send analytics requests.
Anonymous visit statistics without cookies, without IP addresses. For each page view the server records the hour, a public-page label, a referral-source group, whether it was a browser or a bot, and technical request details. Unknown addresses are grouped as other. We use these records to calculate daily totals.
Only a record of a critical server error can contain an IP address.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating the website securely and in knowing how it is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Hosting: Hetzner Online GmbH, on a server in the European Union, as our processor. Server log retention: We delete anonymous visit records older than 7 days during daily maintenance. We keep daily totals for approximately 25 months. Critical-error records may contain an IP address; we delete records older than 14 days during daily maintenance.
Transfers outside the EEA
Your data leaves the European Economic Area (EEA) through us only if our mail or hosting provider processes it there. We state this above for each of them, together with the safeguard it relies on (a European Commission adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses). We will send you a copy of the safeguard on request. Apple services process data under Apple’s policies, including outside the EEA.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict processing and to portability of the data we process for a contract. Write to us at jan@kilowatka.cz or to the address above. We will reply without undue delay and within one month at the latest; for a complex request we may extend this by up to two months, with reasons. It is free of charge. We check your identity only if we have reasonable doubts about who sent the request.
Right to object. You can object at any time to processing based on our legitimate interest. We then stop processing the data unless we show compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We make no automated decisions about you and do not profile you.
We cannot see data that exists only on your phone, so we cannot hand it over or delete it. It is in your hands.
You can lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection.
Changes
If the data the app or website processes changes, we will update this page before the change takes effect and state the date.
Language versions
The Czech version is binding. This English version is a translation for convenience.
